Annual Reviews Webinar

£7.50

This webinar is open to parents, carers and professionals in Kent, supporting children and young people with Down’s syndrome.

The session will be led by Thomas Emmett, Partner and Head of Schools, Colleges and Universities in the Education Team at Geldards Education.

You can find out a little more about Thomas here: “. I act for parents, guardians, carers and young people in matters of SEND law and other areas of education law, including admissions and exclusions appeals.  I also offer advice to a range of educational institutions, including maintained schools, single academy trusts, multi-academy trusts, independent schools and further and higher education institutions. I do not act for local authorities.”

Date: Monday 26th January 2026

Time: 7:30-9:00pm

Location: Online via Zoom

Cost: £7.50

What will the session cover?

If your child or young person has an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP), it must be reviewed at least once a year by the local authority (LA). These reviews ensure the plan stays up to date and continues to meet their needs. At the end of an annual review, the LA can decide to:

  1. Maintain the EHCP as it is (no changes)

  2. Amend the EHCP

  3. Cease the EHCP if they believe it is no longer required

This webinar will guide you through:

  • What to expect from an annual review

  • How to prepare and get the most out of the process

  • Common issues that arise with EHCPs and how to address them

  • When and how the contents of an EHCP can or should be appealed

  • What happens if the LA decides to cease to maintain an EHCP

  • Practical tips on what should be included in an EHCP — and how it should be worded

The session will conclude with a short Q&A, giving you the opportunity to put your questions to Thomas Emmett.

  • The session will be recorded.

  • Zoom links will be sent to you via email prior to the workshop.

👉 Reserve your place today and gain the knowledge and confidence to navigate annual reviews effectively.
