World Down’s Syndrome Day 2025

A Joyous Celebration for World Down’s Syndrome Day – Thank You, Hartsdown Academy!

On Sunday, 23rd March, we at 21 Together had the absolute pleasure of bringing our community together to celebrate World Down’s Syndrome Day. It was a day filled with laughter, joy, and togetherness, and we couldn’t have done it without the incredible support of Hartsdown Academy in Margate. Originally planned to take place at St Augustine’s just along the road, after going into administration, we were left without a venue just 2 months before the event! That’s when Hartsdown Academy stepped in and generously offered to host the event for free—a truly heartwarming act of kindness that allowed us to continue our celebrations without disruption. We are incredibly grateful for their support!

A Day to Remember

More than 200 people from the Down’s syndrome community across Kent joined us for a day packed with exciting entertainment. Our main act, Singing Hands, had everyone on their feet, singing and dancing along as they brought music to life in a truly inclusive way. Everyone was thrilled to see them in person and had an opportunity for photos to capture the moment! Their show was followed by Reg E. Mental’s magic performance, which kept both children and adults entertained with fun and interactive tricks! It was also an opportunity to unveil our new community video, featuring our amazing families signing to Miley Cyrus’ The Climb. The atmosphere was buzzing as families enjoyed face painting, games, and delicious food and drinks from local vendors. It was a real pleasure to see so many smiles and so much laughter throughout the day.

Community Support

We were honoured to welcome several distinguished guests to our event, including the Mayor and Mayoress of Margate, the Mayor of Broadstairs, and two Deputy Lieutenants of Kent who have all been so supportive of 21 Together. We were also lucky enough to have been supported by the Thanet Freemasons and staff from Hornby Hobbies, who came along to volunteer their time on the day. Without support from kind volunteers, our events certainly wouldn’t run as smoothly! The presence of these people reinforced the importance of events like these in fostering a strong, inclusive community for individuals with Down’s syndrome and their families, and we are truly grateful to them for giving up their Sunday afternoon.

Thank You!

We want to extend a huge thank you to Hartsdown Academy for opening their doors to us, to our amazing performers, and to everyone who joined us to make this event so special. Seeing the joy and connection among our community reminds us why we do what we do at 21 Together—creating spaces where everyone feels valued, included, and celebrated.

We can’t wait to do it all again next year! 💙💛
