An Exclusive Day at WonderWorks and Incredible Community Support

We were delighted to bring our community together for a truly special day at WonderWorks Museum in Margate who hosted an exclusive experience for the families we support.

Our children, young people and parents were given rare access to the museum’s private one-to-one train collection. Everyone was amazed, and it was wonderful to see our families enjoying such a unique experience together.

A Warm Welcome and Shared Reflections

The day began with a warm welcome from Deputy Lieutenant Clive Stevens, who attended alongside Frank Martin — both valued Patrons of our campaign.

We also heard from Sinead Ainsworth, our Trustee & Patron, followed by Dan Robertson and Tim Maakestad on behalf of Craven Street Wealth, and James Mason representing Thanet Freemasons. Their words highlighted the strength of these partnerships and the shared commitment to supporting our community.

Generous Donations with Lasting Impact

We were incredibly grateful to receive two generous cheque presentations:

  • £5,041 from Craven Street Wealth, presented on Sunday 8 February by Tim Maakestad, Director and Head of Distribution, and Daniel Robertson, Head of Business Development & Marketing.

  • £10,550 from Thanet Freemasons, raised through last year’s fundraising efforts, alongside match funding and grant support.

Thanet Freemasons raised funds for us through a variety of events, including a Summer Fun Day and a Murder Mystery evening.

Craven Street Wealth selected us as their Kent region Charity of the Year, with fundraising support coming from colleagues, partners and clients across all six regions. Activities throughout 2025 included a sponsored 21km for 21 Together walk and an Odd Sock Day.

Why This Support Matters

As a local, independent charity supporting individuals with Down’s syndrome and their families across East Kent, we receive no government funding. The services we provide — including specialist education, speech and language support, life-skills activities, family support networks and advocacy — rely entirely on fundraising, donations and partnerships.

Support like this has a direct and meaningful impact, enabling us to continue delivering high-quality, specialist support and helping individuals with Down’s syndrome thrive within their communities.

With Our Heartfelt Thanks

We would like to sincerely thank Craven Street Wealth, Thanet Freemasons, and WonderWorks Museum for their generosity, time and belief in our work.

The day was filled with great conversations, connection and shared purpose — and we are incredibly grateful to everyone who helped make it possible 💙
