Sibling Rivalry Online Workshops

(Three sessions, one per week)

Led by Sibs, hosted by 21 Together.

Remaining tickets to this course are open to parents/carers of children and young people with Down’s syndrome, both inside and outside of the Kent area

Time: 20:00-21:00 online via Zoom

This course consists of three one-hour online workshops. By booking a space, you are signing up to all three workshops.

Workshop One (13.11.23) : Introduction to supporting siblings.

It will help parents of disabled children find ways of giving attention, information, and support to the other children in their families.

What participants will gain:

  • Insight into siblings’ needs and experiences

  • Practical ideas for giving siblings attention

  • Further sources of information

Workshop Two (20.11.23) : How to deal with sibling rivalry

The focus of the workshop will be on supporting siblings and it aims to help parents identify the behaviours arising from sibling rivalry and suggests relevant strategies for parents to use.

What participants will gain:

  • how to spot if your sibling child is having difficulty coping

  • what to do if your sibling isn’t getting on with their brother or sister

  • ideas on addressing difficult behaviour between siblings.

Workshop Three (27.11.23) : Challenging Behaviour

The focus of the workshop will be on supporting siblings and it aims to help parents identify the difficulties for siblings whose brother or sister displays behaviour which challenges.

What participants will gain:

  • how to spot if your sibling child is having difficulty coping

  • What you can do as a parent to support your sibling child

  • Ideas for making plans and keeping siblings safe

Cost (for all three workshops): Parents/Carers - £25

Please note that refunds cannot be offered if you are unable to attend a session.
