Come and join us for our second PLAY AND STAY, specifically for those with younger children and expecting families. We have a new programme planned with regular speakers and expert guidance, as well as time to connect with families.
This session will be held via Zoom.
SPEAKER: Laura Steere - Specialist Speech and Language Therapist - Key Communication
Laura is a Highly Specialist Speech and Language Therapist with 13 years’ experience. She started her career working for the NHS before setting up her own independent practice in 2017. Laura has experience of working with children across all ages with a range of speech, language and communication needs. She has particular interests and specialisms in working with children with Down’s syndrome and children with Autism. Laura has been working with 21 Together since 2017 and has overseen the communication groups since this time. During the pandemic, she has run these groups via Zoom, set session plans and provided videos for the pre-school groups.
This session will be broken down into two age ranges so it can be tailored accordingly. It will cover top tips to support the early foundations of speech, language and communication development in children with Down Syndrome which are so key for their life long skills.
Come and join us for a cuppa (BYO) and a chat. Little ones very welcome (virtual cuddles will have to do), a time to come along and meet other families in the same position. A really open friendly group where you can talk all things DS or alternatively just have a good old chat about anything else. 21 Together staff on hand for advice and support.
TIME: 19:30-21:30
19:30-20:00: 0-18 months age range, followed by small group chat session.
20:05-20:35: 2-5 year age range, followed by small group chat session.
For those 19-23 months, parents can choose which one they would like to attend depending on their child.
There will be time after the sessions to have a general chat and catch up on what’s going on in everyone’s lives.
