How it can help your young person with Down’s syndrome to thrive

This training is for Kent-based families and professionals only.

Delivered by Naturopathic Nutritional Therapist Natalija Clark (nclarknutrition.com) and hosted by 21 Together via Zoom.

It is aimed at people supporting children and young people with Down’s syndrome, from toddler right through to teenager.

We will be joined by Natalija Clark, mum to 15 year old Max who has Down’s syndrome. She became interested in nutrition more than 10 years ago to support her son's health.

She is now a Naturopathic Nutritional Therapist working with both children and adults, supporting with a variety of conditions using a holistic approach to health and wellness.

Natalija will be discussing the foundations of good nutrition for children with DS, highlighting common issues that the community face and how nutrition can help alleviate these. She will have plenty of time for Q&A at the end - be sure to write any questions you have on our sign-up form below!

Overview

  • Hydration and why it matters (What are the norms for children of different ages? How to encourage your child to drink enough fluids. What drinks are best?)

  • Balanced meals to support energy levels and well-being (What is a balanced meal? How to interest a child in eating vegetables. Importance of good fats for children with Down’s Syndrome)

  • How to support children’s health with nutrition (Mucus forming foods; Support regularity; Foods to support immunity; Supplements to support immunity)

  • Common health concerns for children with Down’s Syndrome (Overproduction of mucus; constipation; digestive issues; weight gain; food intolerance; picky eating and so on).

  • Blood tests & other tests (including ones from your GP and privately) to consider to support your child

  • Basic supplements for children with Down’s syndrome

You will also be emailed a selection of useful handouts including recipe ideas following the session!
