Overview and Purpose:

This course is aimed at all staff working with children and young people with Down’s syndrome.  This session will cover the key elements of developing Numeracy skills, why children with Down’s syndrome may find this subject challenging, the use of manipulatives to support learning and what strategies / resources can be used to support access to the curriculum.

Outcomes:

  • By the end of the session you will know the key factors which influence mathematical/numerical learning

  • By the end of the session you will have an understanding of the possible challenges that mathematics/numeracy presents

  • By the end of the session you will know some strategies and resources which will support learning and progress in mathematics/numeracy

We cannot accommodate for children on this course.
