A practical guide to supporting young people with Down’s syndrome

Led by Inclusively Down, hosted by 21 Together.

This course is open to anyone in KENT who cares for and/or works directly with, a child or young person with Down’s syndrome.

Date: Wednesday 1st May 2024

Time: 09:30-15:30

This hands-on workshop will support you to develop, manage and promote social and emotional skills and look at what we can do to further this for children and young people with Down’s syndrome. We will consider practical strategies and resources to give you experience of and confidence in doing this.

Topics considered will include: Friendships and Relationships, Personal Safety, Taking Responsibility, Sexuality.

This workshop is appropriate for parents/carers/professionals supporting children with Down’s syndrome of any age, as for younger children we will look at the importance of teaching things like public/private and appropriate touch, as well as the above for young adults.

Location: Shorne Woods Country Park Training Room, Brewers Rd, Shorne, Gravesend, DA12 3HX (Pay and display car park on-site, £3 for the day.) Tea, coffee and lunch can be purchased from the on-site cafe.

Cost: Parents/Carers - £15. Professionals £80
