Our new Thanet Centre

Celebrating our amazing contractors

On July 8th, we launched the Communicate Together project. The goal of this campaign was to further our reach and support into under-served areas such as Thanet. To provide a nurturing haven where children and young adults with Down's syndrome can flourish. With our new Thanet Centre transformed and already running groups, we want to take a moment to shine a spotlight on the incredible contractors who dedicated their time and skills to make this vision a reality.

A Heartfelt Thank You

From the very beginning, we knew that transforming the Thanet centre required not just expertise, but a shared commitment to our mission. We are grateful to all the contractors who generously contributed their talents to help us create an engaging environment. Here’s a closer look at some of the amazing teams who played a vital role in this project.

Our Patrons

We would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to all our patrons for their unwavering support throughout this project. We couldn’t have achieved this transformation without your generous contributions and encouragement. A special thank you goes to Lady Colgrain, Sarah Wildgoose, Clive Stevens, Frank Martin, and Sinead Ainsworth. Your commitment to our cause has made a significant impact, and we are truly grateful for your involvement in helping us create a nurturing environment for the children we serve.

Degiorgio Properties

We’re incredibly grateful to Mark Degiorgio, who traveled all the way from Medway to Thanet to address significant damp and mould issues caused by a leak and also decorate our new centre. Their commitment to ensuring a safe and healthy environment for our children was evident in their meticulous work.

PPG - Johnstones decorating centre

We also want to extend our gratitude to PPG - Johnstones Decorating Centre in Sittingbourne, who generously provided us with paint and other essential decorating materials. With their high-quality products, we were able to create a bright and inviting atmosphere.

Oxden Flooring

A huge thank you goes out to Oxden Flooring, owned by Lee Fox, who traveled from Medway to supply and fit both carpet and lino for our new centre. Lee and his team worked tirelessly to ensure the job was completed to perfection, creating a comfortable environment for our children. Special recognition goes to Declan, Lee’s fitter, and Alfie, Lee’s apprentice, whose hard work and dedication truly shone through during the installation process.

ASC Imaging

We would also like to say thank you to ASC Imaging from Medway, who installed the frosted windows and signage for our centre. Their work not only enhances the privacy of our space but also beautifully promotes the important mission we uphold. We appreciate ASC Imaging’s professionalism in helping us establish a welcoming environment for our families.

E Saunders

We would also like to extend our sincere appreciation to E Saunders, who generously provided us with a discounted rate for the electrical work at our new centre.

Hornby

Hornby’s CEO Olly Raeburn has been unstintingly encouraging of our efforts and they are generously covering our utilities and WiFi costs: without their enthusiasm the project would not have got off the ground. Thanks also to Dave Huddart and his team for their guidance and infinite patience.

Donations

Without the support of our generous donors, we could not have completed this project. We’d like to give a special mention to Frank Martin, Clive Stevens, Sarah Wildgoose and DDS Constructions for their remarkable contributions. Their generosity has made a significant impact on our ability to create a functional space for our children.

Community Spirit in Action

What truly set this project apart was the sense of community and collaboration among all the contractors. Each team brought their unique skills, but what united them was a shared passion for making a difference. Their commitment to our mission truly exemplifies the spirit of community, and we are deeply appreciative of their contribution to our new Thanet centre.
