21 Together hold a strong belief that no family should be denied access to training due to finances. Our Financial Support Policy and application form is available upon request.
Aims/Purpose of the training:
This training session for school staff, parents and speech and language therapists will look at using a variety of visual supports to develop expressive language with people who have Down’s syndrome, including: colourful semantics, shape coding, signing, symbols, language through reading, pacers and charts. Visual supports have been identified as powerful tools for developing vocabulary and grammar, as well as for supporting understanding. We will look at how these can be used in speech and language therapy interventions, and identify the possibilities and limitations of each. The session offers an opportunity to review how you use these tools, and to identify further developments.
Please indicate via the form when you book if you have particular areas you would like to explore, and bring along any examples you would like to discuss.
We are sorry, but this course cannot be attended by children.
